You'll learn how to: Manually check for Listener updates and install them.
Time: 2 minutes.
Prereqs: Nynch Listener installed.
Automatic updates
Nynch Listener checks for updates automatically. If a new version is available, you'll see a notification or prompt asking you to update. Click Update or Install Update to proceed.
Most updates download and install in the background while Listener is running. Some updates may require a restart of the app.
Check for updates manually
If you want to check for updates right now:
- Open Nynch Listener.
- Click the menu icon (three horizontal lines) or open Settings.
- Look for Check for updates, Updates, or About section.
- Click Check for updates if you see that option.
- Listener will contact the update server and either tell you it's up to date or prompt you to install a new version.
Install an available update
- If Listener shows "An update is available", click Update or Install.
- Listener downloads the new version. You may see a progress bar.
- Once the download is complete, Listener will prompt you to restart the app to apply the update.
- Click Restart or close and reopen Listener manually.
After restart, the new version is active. You can verify the version number in Settings > About or by opening the menu.
Prevent auto-update if needed
If you prefer to update manually and skip automatic updates, check Settings for an Automatic updates toggle or option. Disable it if available.
Note: Disabling auto-updates means you're responsible for updating manually. We recommend keeping auto-updates enabled to get bug fixes and security improvements.
If something goes wrong
- Symptom: "Listener says there's an update available but the update button doesn't work." → Fix: Check your internet connection. If you're connected, wait a few moments and try again. If it still fails, try manually restarting Listener and checking again.
- Symptom: "After updating, Listener won't start or acts strangely." → Fix: Try restarting your computer. If the problem persists, uninstall Listener completely and reinstall the latest version from your Nynch Settings > Integrations. See Uninstall Nynch Listener for steps.
- Symptom: "I see 'Update available' but I don't want to update yet." → Fix: You can dismiss the notification. Updates are not forced immediately. However, we recommend updating within a week to stay current with bug fixes and security patches.
- Symptom: "How do I know what changed in the new version?" → Fix: Listener displays release notes or a changelog when an update is available. Look for a What's new or Release notes link in the update dialog.
