Auto-detect and record meetings

You'll learn how to: Enable meeting auto-detect so Listener watches for calls and offers one-click recording.

Time: 2 minutes.

Prereqs: Nynch Listener installed and signed in. Nynch Listener requires Windows 10 or later.

What is auto-detect?

Auto-detect is an optional feature that watches your screen for Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet windows. When it sees a meeting in progress, it shows a banner offering to record with one click.

Benefits:

  • Never forget to start Listener manually.
  • One-click recording from the banner.
  • Title is pre-filled from your calendar if available.

Limitations:

  • Detects calls based on window title. It may miss meetings if the app window isn't titled as expected.

How to enable auto-detect

  1. Open Nynch Listener.
  2. Click Settings (look for a gear icon or settings menu).
  3. Find the Auto-detect meetings toggle or checkbox.
  4. Turn it on.

Once enabled, Listener runs in the background and scans window titles.

When auto-detect shows the banner

When Listener detects a Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet window:

  1. A "Meeting detected" banner appears on your screen (usually at the top or in a corner).
  2. It shows the meeting title (pulled from your calendar if synced, or the app's window title).
  3. Two buttons appear: Record and Not now.

To start recording from the banner

  1. Click Record.
  2. Listener starts recording immediately using the Remote call mode (since it detected a video call).
  3. The OS permission dialog may appear (asking to share audio). Tick "Share audio" and click Share.

Recording begins. The banner closes and Listener shows the normal recording screen.

To dismiss the banner without recording

Click Not now.

The banner closes. Listener stops watching that window but continues scanning for other meetings. If you start another meeting later, the banner appears again.

Setting your title before recording

Auto-detect pre-fills the meeting title from the app's window or your synced calendar. You can edit it:

  1. When the banner shows, look for a title field (or edit icon).
  2. Change the title if needed.
  3. Click Record.

Calendar sync for better titles

If your Nynch workspace is synced with your calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook, etc.), Listener pulls the official meeting title from your calendar. This is more reliable than parsing the Zoom/Teams window title.

See your workspace settings in Nynch web to enable calendar sync if it's not already on.

How window detection works

Listener scans the title of your active window (the app currently in focus) every few seconds. If it contains "Zoom", "Teams", "Google Meet", or similar keywords, it recognizes it as a meeting.

Edge cases:

  • If you rename your Zoom meeting title oddly (e.g., "Project X"), Listener may not recognize it as a meeting if the window title doesn't contain "Zoom".
  • If your window is minimized or hidden, Listener may not detect it.
  • If your Zoom window title is "Participant" or generic, Listener still detects it if it contains the app name.

Disabling auto-detect

To turn it off:

  1. Open Listener Settings.
  2. Toggle Auto-detect meetings off.

Listener will no longer scan for meetings. You'll need to manually click Start to record.

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "The banner shows a wrong meeting title." → Fix: Edit the title before clicking Record. Or, ensure your calendar is synced to Nynch so the official title pulls from there instead of the window title. See your Nynch workspace settings.
  • Symptom: "Auto-detect is on but the banner never appears when I join a meeting." → Fix: The meeting window may not be in focus or may have an unrecognized title. Click the Zoom / Teams / Google Meet window to bring it to the front. If the banner still doesn't appear, see if the window title contains "Zoom", "Teams", or "Google Meet". If not, you may need to manually start recording. Or contact support.
  • Symptom: "The banner appeared but I clicked Not Now and now I can't find it." → Fix: If you want to record that meeting, start a new recording manually in Listener. The banner will appear again for the next meeting.
  • Symptom: "Auto-detect shows a banner for something that's not a meeting." → Fix: Listener scans window titles for keywords like "Zoom" or "Teams". If another app has those words in its title, Listener may detect it as a meeting. Click Not now to dismiss. This is a harmless false positive.

After enabling auto-detect

You're all set. Just open your meetings as usual. Listener will watch for them and offer to record. See Record your first meeting if you need help during the actual recording.
