Command palette and slash commands

You'll learn how to: Open the command palette to search for contacts and deals, jump to pages, and trigger actions using keyboard shortcuts.

Time: 3 minutes.

Prereqs: You're signed in and have data in your workspace (contacts or deals).

Open the command palette

Press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows / Linux) anywhere in Nynch. A modal pops up with a search box and a list of recent items or suggestions.

The command palette does three things: search, navigate, and discover quick actions.

Search for contacts and deals

Start typing a name or company in the search box. The palette shows matching results:

  • Contacts: First and last name matches. Shows company and relationship status.
  • Deals: Deal name or company name. Shows amount and stage.
  • Pages: Nynch pages like Opportunities, Pipelines, or Growth.

Select a result by clicking or using arrow keys + Enter. You jump straight to that contact's profile or deal card.

Navigate using the command palette

Quick navigation shortcuts appear at the top or in the results:

  • Type "/" to see a list of available navigation commands.
  • Example commands: /deals, /contacts, /opportunities, /today, /settings.

Press Enter on any result to navigate there instantly.

In-app slash commands (Assist)

When you're composing or chatting in Assist (the AI sidebar or any compose box), type "/" to open a command menu. These are different from the main command palette:

  • /draft-email: Open a full email composer with AI suggestions.
  • /create-action: Quick task creation.
  • /search: Search your workspace from within the chat.

These commands only appear when you have focus in a text input.

Support and resources

At the bottom of the command palette or Assist sidebar, you see a Support + Resources link. Click it for:

  • In-app help and guided tours.
  • Link to this wiki.
  • Feedback and bug reporting.

Keyboard shortcuts quick reference

Shortcut Action
Cmd/Ctrl+K Open the command palette.
Esc Close the palette or any modal.
Arrow Up / Down Navigate through search results.
Enter Select a result and navigate to it.

Tips

  • Command palette is fastest for jumping between contacts. If you're on Deal A and need to check Contact B, Cmd+K + type "B" + Enter is faster than sidebar clicking.
  • Use "/" in Assist for drafting quick messages. When the AI suggests an email, type "/draft-email" to expand it into a full compose box.
  • Search is fuzzy. You don't need exact spelling. "Acm" finds "Acme Inc" and "Sarah Jo" finds both "Sarah" and "Johnson".

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "Command palette doesn't open when I press Cmd/Ctrl+K." → Fix: Make sure focus is on the Nynch app (not in another browser tab or input field like email). Try clicking the Nynch window first, then press the shortcut. If still stuck, check if your browser or OS has claimed that shortcut for something else (e.g., Cmd+K opens search on some browsers).
  • Symptom: "Search results are empty or slow." → Fix: Make sure you've imported contacts or created deals. New workspaces take a day or two to index fully. Try a broader search term (e.g., "Sarah" instead of "Sarah J").
  • Symptom: "Slash commands don't appear in Assist." → Fix: Make sure you're typing "/" while your cursor is in a text box (email composer, task field, chat input). If you're in read-only mode or viewing a detail page, try clicking into an input field first.
  • Symptom: "I selected a contact but the page didn't load." → Fix: Wait a moment for the page to load. If it's stuck, refresh the page. This sometimes happens if the contact has a lot of historical data.
