Install Nynch Listener

You'll learn how to: Download and install Nynch Listener, the desktop app that records meeting audio locally and uploads transcripts to Nynch.

Time: 5 minutes.

Prereqs: A Nynch account. Nynch Listener requires Windows 10 or later.

What is Nynch Listener?

Nynch Listener is a lightweight desktop app that records your meetings and calls without joining as a bot. It captures audio locally, then uploads and transcribes it server-side, landing the transcript in People > Meetings alongside your other meeting notes.

Unlike video meeting recording, Listener sits silently in your system tray. No one knows it's there. It works with Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, or any call you're already on.

Step 1: Get the download link

  1. In Nynch, open your avatar (top-right of the screen) and click Settings.
  2. Click the Integrations tab.
  3. Scroll to the Nynch Listener card. It has a download icon and shows the current app version.
  4. Click Download to get the installer.

Step 2: Install on Windows

  1. Open your Downloads folder and find the nynch-listener-setup.exe file.
  2. Double-click the installer.
  3. Follow the install wizard. Accept the default location (usually C:\Program Files\Nynch Listener) or choose your own.
  4. Click Finish when the wizard completes.

Listener is now installed and will start automatically. You should see the Nynch icon appear in your system tray (bottom-right corner of the screen, next to the clock).

Step 3: Sign in

  1. Listener opens to a login screen.
  2. Enter your Email and Password (the same ones you use for Nynch web).
  3. Optional. Tick Remember me to stay signed in on this device. Your password is not saved, only your session.
  4. Click Sign In.

Once signed in, the app shows the recording screen. You're ready to record.

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "The download link is not working or shows a 404." → Fix: The Listener downloads are not yet published. Mark the download link as UNVERIFIED and contact Nynch support for access.
  • Symptom: "The installer says 'Cannot find nynch-listener-setup.exe'." → Fix: Check your Downloads folder and make sure the file finished downloading. If it's incomplete, download again from Settings.
  • Symptom: "I'm on Windows and installed it, but no icon appears in the system tray." → Fix: Listener may be running but hidden. Right-click your system tray area and look for the Nynch icon. If not there, restart your computer. If it still doesn't appear, uninstall and reinstall.
  • Symptom: "Login screen says 'Invalid email or password' but I'm sure it's right." → Fix: Your Nynch account may use a different email than you think. Go to Nynch web (app.nynch.com) and check your Settings. If you forgot your password, use the Forgot Password link on the Listener login screen.
