Disconnect a Gmail account

You'll learn how to: Cleanly remove a connected Gmail account from Nynch.

Time: 1 minute.

When to disconnect

  • You're moving to a different email account.
  • You're testing Nynch with a personal account and now want to swap to your work account.
  • Compliance or privacy reasons.
  • You're leaving the workspace and want to detach your mail before someone takes over.

Disconnect doesn't delete already-imported email data from contact timelines. It stops new mail from syncing forward.

Steps

  1. Open Settings (gear icon, bottom-left of sidebar).
  2. Click the Email & Calendar tab.
  3. Find the Gmail card in the Email & Calendar Integrations panel.
  4. The card shows your connected email address and a status badge.
  5. Click the more-actions icon / Disconnect button on the right of the card.
  6. A confirmation dialog asks "Are you sure?" with a short description of what changes.
  7. Click Disconnect to confirm.
  8. A toast confirms: "Gmail disconnected: <your address>".

The card flips back to showing a Connect button.

What happens

  • Nynch revokes the OAuth token on Google's side (so it can no longer fetch your mail).
  • The integration status flips to disconnected.
  • Past imported emails STAY on contact timelines. They're not deleted.
  • New mail stops being synced.
  • Send-from-Nynch capability for this account stops working.
  • Any active background imports are cancelled.

Reconnect later

If you want to come back:

  1. Open Settings → Email & Calendar.
  2. Click Connect on the Gmail card.
  3. Walk the OAuth flow again. See Connect Gmail to Nynch.

Reconnecting starts fresh forward sync from the moment of reconnection. To pull historical mail again, run the Configure wizard and pick a date range.

Additional sending accounts

If you connected additional sending accounts (via the "Additional Email Sending And Receiving Accounts" panel below the main integrations panel), each one disconnects separately. Removing the primary Gmail doesn't auto-remove the additionals.

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "Disconnect button is greyed out." → Fix: You're not signed in. Refresh the page and try again.
  • Symptom: "I got a 'Failed to disconnect' error." → Fix: The disconnect needs both Nynch and Google to acknowledge. If Google's API is briefly unavailable, retry in a minute. If it persists, you can revoke Nynch's access manually from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/permissions and then click Disconnect on the Nynch side to clean up the local state.
  • Symptom: "After disconnect, old emails disappeared from contact timelines." → Fix: This shouldn't happen. Disconnect preserves imported data. If timelines are missing emails, refresh once; if still missing, contact support so they can investigate.
  • Symptom: "Gmail card still shows my old email after disconnect." → Fix: Refresh the page. The card's status updates on next data load.
