Restart onboarding

You'll learn how to: Re-run the conversational onboarding wizard at any point. Useful after a business pivot, when bringing on a new teammate, or just to reset answers that have drifted.

Time: 30 seconds to start. The wizard itself takes 10 minutes.

Steps

  1. Click your avatar (top-right), then Settings.
  2. Click the Account tab.
  3. Find the Setup Wizard section and the Restart Onboarding button.

  1. Click it.
  2. A toast confirms "Restarting onboarding..." and Nynch routes you to /onboard.
  3. The wizard opens with a clean state. Your previous answers are wiped.

When to restart

  • Business pivot. New market, new service mix, new positioning. Re-running the wizard refreshes the foundation the AI grounds in.
  • New teammate joining. They should walk their own onboarding, not yours.
  • AI suggestions feel off-target. Often the fastest fix is a fresh onboarding, especially if your original answers were rushed.
  • Mid-project reset. Switching from "I sell consulting" to "I sell a productised service" is a meaningful enough shift to redo the foundation.
  • ICPs or Services changed significantly. The wizard updates these during onboarding, so a fresh run can help the AI learn the new shape of your business.

What gets wiped

The wizard resets:

  • The conversational onboarding state in your user profile.
  • The nynch_onboarding_completed flag in localStorage.

It does NOT wipe:

  • Your existing ICPs.
  • Your services.
  • Your contacts, deals, rhythms, or any business data.
  • Your connected integrations.

So restarting is safe. Worst case, you re-answer questions and the underlying business data stays intact.

What changes after re-running

The wizard updates:

  • Your Profile fields (name, title, photo, company).
  • Your Authority claim.
  • Your weekly targets (Today → Actions tab).
  • Your priority ICPs and Services (it may add new ones or edit priorities; existing records aren't deleted).
  • Superbrain context, which influences AI suggestions going forward.

If you want to change just one of these without re-running the whole wizard, edit the relevant page directly instead.

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "Restart Onboarding button is greyed out." → Fix: You're not signed in, or you're in a demo workspace. Sign in to your real workspace and try again.
  • Symptom: "I clicked Restart and got routed to /onboard but the wizard is blank." → Fix: Refresh once. If still blank, the AI service may be briefly unavailable; try again in a minute.
  • Symptom: "I want to keep my existing answers and just edit one." → Fix: Don't restart. Edit directly:
    • Profile fields: avatar → Settings → Profile.
    • ICPs: Strategy mode → Ideal Client Profile.
    • Services: Strategy mode → Services & Pricing.
    • Weekly targets: Today → Actions tab.
  • Symptom: "I started restart but want to cancel." → Fix: Close the wizard tab and your previous answers remain intact until you complete the new wizard. Restart only commits when you finish.
