Add a stakeholder to a deal

You'll learn how to: Map every person who matters in a buyer's decision onto the deal, with their role, engagement level, and contact methods.

Time: 30 seconds per stakeholder.

Prereqs: You have a deal open. The deal has at least one primary contact (or you're about to add the first one as a stakeholder).

Steps

  1. Click the deal on your Revenue kanban or list to open the deal canvas.
  2. Click the Map People tab (tab 3 of 5).
  3. Click + Add Stakeholder (or the equivalent add button in the panel).
  4. A contact picker opens. Start typing the person's name. Existing contacts in your Nynch network appear; pick one. If they don't exist yet, you can create them inline with the + New Contact option in the picker.
  5. Pick their role from the dropdown:
    • Economic Buyer: who controls the budget.
    • Champion: who's internally selling the project.
    • Coach: who helps you navigate the buyer's organisation but isn't a buyer themselves.
    • Influencer: who shapes the decision without owning it.
    • Detractor: who's actively against the deal.
  6. (Optional) Add a note about their position, fears, or what you know about them.
  7. Click Save / Add.

The stakeholder appears on the Map People tab with an engagement strength bar based on recent interactions.

What you can do with each stakeholder

Once added, each stakeholder row has inline pickers for:

  • Send email (opens compose with their address pre-filled).
  • Schedule meeting (uses your connected calendar).
  • Send WhatsApp (opens the contact's WhatsApp if a number is on file).
  • Open contact profile (jumps to the contact's full Nynch profile).

Their engagement strength updates as they engage with the deal (open emails, attend meetings, respond to messages).

Promote a stakeholder to primary

If the deal's primary contact changes (e.g. the original contact left the company and the Champion took over):

  1. On Map People, find the stakeholder you want to promote.
  2. Click the Make Primary action (or the small star / promote icon next to their name).
  3. The previous primary moves to the committee with their previous role.
  4. The deal's title and metrics update to reflect the new primary.

Detected gaps

If you've added a few stakeholders but Nynch's AI thinks you're missing an obvious role (e.g. an Economic Buyer in a six-figure deal with only Champions on the committee), it surfaces a "Detect buying committee" suggestion at the top of the Map People tab. Accept it and the AI proposes who to add.

Use the Fear Matrix

Click any stakeholder to expand their detail panel. The Fear Matrix shows what the AI thinks their fears about the change are, and what could counter them. Fill in your own observations to sharpen subsequent AI suggestions.

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "Map People tab is empty and won't let me add anyone." → Fix: Your deal might not have a company linked. Some methodologies require a company before stakeholders. Add the company on the Check Fit tab first.
  • Symptom: "Contact picker says 'No matches'." → Fix: The person isn't in your Nynch network yet. Use the inline + New Contact option in the picker, or close the dialog and add them via Contacts → + New Contact first.
  • Symptom: "I added a stakeholder but the engagement bar is empty." → Fix: Engagement strength updates as the AI sees real interactions (emails, meetings, etc.). It can take a few hours after adding. If they have history but the bar is still empty, check that the contact's email matches one Nynch has seen in your inbox.
  • Symptom: "The Make Primary action isn't there." → Fix: A primary contact must already be set on the deal. Set one on the Check Fit tab first; then Make Primary appears as an action on every other stakeholder.
