Generate a Deep Research report

You'll learn how to: Get an AI-generated dossier on a specific contact or company. Used for high-value pre-meeting prep, account expansion analysis, or first-touch outbound.

Time: 1 minute to start. Results return in 2-5 minutes.

Prereqs: The contact or company has at least a name and either a LinkedIn URL, email domain, or company name. The richer the existing data, the better the report.

When to spend the credits

Deep Research costs more than enrichment (typically 3-10 credits per report depending on depth). It's worth it for:

  • A meeting with a buyer you don't know well, where the deal matters.
  • A new strategic account you want to break into.
  • A pivot moment in an existing deal where you need to know what changed.
  • Pre-call prep for the first conversation with a senior stakeholder.

Skip it for low-value contacts or contacts where you already have rich data and recent interactions.

Steps

  1. Open the contact's profile (or company's profile).
  2. Find the Deep Research action. Common locations:
    • In the AI / Skills menu on the profile.
    • As a top-level action on the contact toolbar.
    • In the bulk toolbar > More > Deep Research for many at once.
  3. Click it.
  4. A confirmation shows the credit cost.
  5. Confirm.
  6. The job kicks off in the background. The profile shows a "Researching..." state.
  7. In 2-5 minutes, the dossier appears as a structured panel on the profile.

What's in a typical dossier

  • Background: who they are, where they've worked, what they're known for.
  • Recent signals: posts, job changes, funding announcements, conferences.
  • Predicted needs: what challenges someone in their role is likely facing right now.
  • Talk tracks: 3-5 conversation openers grounded in the above.
  • Mutual connections: people in your network who could intro you.
  • Risks / sensitivities: things to NOT mention or handle carefully.
  • Authority match: how your positioning maps onto their likely needs.

For companies, the dossier shifts to:

  • Company health signals (hiring, growth, news).
  • Tech stack and tools.
  • Decision-maker map.
  • Recent press / mentions.
  • Best-fit entry point and warm-intro paths.

Save and share the dossier

The dossier is preserved on the contact / company forever. You can:

  • Pin it so it always shows at the top of the profile.
  • Export as PDF for sharing with a teammate or printing for a meeting.
  • Send to email if you want it in your inbox to read on mobile.

Re-run later

The signals refresh. If a few months have passed and you want fresh research:

  1. Open the profile.
  2. Click Re-run Deep Research.
  3. Confirm the credit cost.
  4. New report replaces the old one (the old is archived for reference).

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "Deep Research action isn't there." → Fix: Your plan may not include it. Check Settings > Account.
  • Symptom: "Not enough credits." → Fix: Top up via Settings > Account > Credit Balance, or run on fewer contacts.
  • Symptom: "Report came back thin." → Fix: The contact has limited public footprint. Deep Research is only as good as what exists publicly. Try enriching first to add LinkedIn URL / company domain, then re-run.
  • Symptom: "Report has factual errors." → Fix: Edit individual sections of the dossier (the panel supports inline edit on most plans). The AI's research is grounded in public data which can be wrong; your edits become the canonical version.
  • Symptom: "Researching... never finishes." → Fix: Big reports can take 5-10 minutes for very rich contacts. If it's still running after 15 minutes, refresh the page; the result may already be there but the UI didn't update.
