Prereqs: Install the Nynch Chrome extension, Google Calendar connected to Nynch, Google Meet transcription enabled
The extension syncs Meet transcripts from your Google Drive in the background. Transcripts must be enabled on your Google Meet calls first (a Google Workspace feature), and the sync typically runs daily.
Set up automatic transcript sync
- In the Nynch app, go to Settings > Integrations.
- Connect your Google Calendar (if not already connected).
- Ensure Google Drive access is granted so Nynch can read transcript files.
- In your Google Workspace admin settings, enable Google Meet transcription (this is a Workspace feature and must be turned on by your admin if you don't see the option).
Enable transcription on your meets
- Start or join a Google Meet call.
- Click the More menu (three dots) in the bottom right.
- Select Turn on captions or Enable transcription (available in Google Workspace).
- The transcript is saved automatically to your Google Drive after the call ends.
Sync transcripts to Nynch
Once setup is complete, the extension runs a daily sync:
- Nynch scans Google Drive for new Meet transcripts.
- If a transcript is from a call with someone in your contacts, it's linked to that person's timeline.
- A Meeting entry appears on the contact's timeline with the transcript and key talking points.
You can also manually trigger a sync:
- Open the Nynch extension sidebar.
- Look for a Sync Transcripts or Refresh Meetings button.
- Click to force an immediate sync instead of waiting for the daily run.
Live recording (Nynch Listener)
The extension does NOT record your calls in real time. If you need automatic local recording and transcription of calls:
- Install and configure Nynch Listener, which records and transcribes calls from Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams locally on your computer.
- Listener uploads transcripts to Nynch automatically, so both live context and recordings are captured.
If something goes wrong
Symptom: No transcripts appear in Nynch even though I have transcripts in Google Drive. → Fix: Check that your Google Drive is connected in Settings > Integrations. The sync looks specifically for Google Meet transcript files (usually named like "Meet - [Contact Name] - [Date]"). If they're in a non-standard folder or named differently, manual sync may not find them.
Symptom: Transcripts are syncing but they're not linked to the right contact. → Fix: Nynch matches transcripts by detecting participant names in the Meet recording details. If a participant's name doesn't exactly match a contact name in Nynch, it may not link automatically. Manually add or edit the contact to ensure the name matches, or add them to the call details in Google Meet.
Symptom: I'm getting an error about Google Drive access. → Fix: Go to Settings > Integrations, find Google Drive, and click Re-authorize. Grant permission again to refresh the connection.
