Set display preferences (dark mode, dates, currency, timezone)

You'll learn how to: Customise how Nynch displays dates, currency, timezone, and themes for you specifically.

Time: 2 minutes.

Steps

  1. Open Settings (gear icon, bottom-left).
  2. Click the Profile tab (or a Display Settings card if your workspace surfaces it separately).
  3. Scroll to the Display / Preferences section.
  4. Adjust each setting (most auto-save; some need an explicit Save button).

The settings

Theme

  • Light (default): cream / off-white background.
  • Dark: dark grey background for low-light environments.
  • System: follows your OS preference and auto-switches at sunset / sunrise.

Theme changes apply immediately. The whole app re-skins.

Date format

  • DD/MM/YYYY (UK / EU): "19/05/2026"
  • MM/DD/YYYY (US): "05/19/2026"
  • YYYY-MM-DD (ISO): "2026-05-19"
  • Long form (locale-specific): "19 May 2026"

The chosen format applies everywhere a date is displayed: deal close dates, activity timestamps, the Today screen, the Actions weekly grid. CSV exports respect the format too.

Currency

  • Symbol (£, $, €, ¥, etc.).
  • Position: before (£25,000) or after (25,000£).
  • Thousands separator: comma, dot, or space.

These are display-only. The underlying numeric value doesn't change; only how it renders.

For changing the workspace default currency (e.g. all new deals default to GBP), see Set the workspace currency.

Timezone

  • Defaults to your browser's timezone on first sign-in.
  • Edit to match where you actually work. Critical for:
    • Quiet hours.
    • Daily digest send times.
    • Meeting times (if you travel and want Nynch to render times in your home zone).

First day of the week

  • Sunday (US default).
  • Monday (UK / EU / most of the world).

Affects the Actions weekly grid and any week-bucket reports.

Number format

  • 1,000.00 (US / UK).
  • 1.000,00 (most of EU).

What's per-user vs workspace-wide

  • Theme, date format, number format, first day of week, timezone: per-user. Your settings don't affect teammates.
  • Workspace currency: workspace-wide. Owners change it for everyone; see Set the workspace currency.
  • Currency symbol position: usually per-user.

If something goes wrong

  • Symptom: "Theme switcher isn't there." → Fix: Some older workspaces hide it on Profile and put it under a separate Display Settings card. Check both. If still missing, your plan may default to light only.
  • Symptom: "Dark mode is on but some screens look wrong." → Fix: A few legacy screens may not have dark-mode CSS yet. Toggle back to light or system, and contact support to report which screen.
  • Symptom: "Date format applied but old dates still show in the old format." → Fix: Refresh the page. Old data renders with the new format on next load.
  • Symptom: "Timezone changed but quiet hours fired at the wrong time." → Fix: Quiet hours use your timezone setting at the time the hour starts. Make sure both timezone and quiet hours are saved, then wait until the next quiet-hours window to verify.
  • Symptom: "I set First day = Monday but the grid still shows Sunday." → Fix: The Actions grid caches the week structure. Refresh the page; new weeks render with the new setting.
