Extension Troubleshooting on LinkedIn

You'll learn how to: Diagnose and fix the most common extension problems so you can capture contacts and context on LinkedIn without friction.

Time: 5 min

Prereqs: Install the Nynch Chrome extension

Sidebar not appearing on LinkedIn

Symptom: The Nynch sidebar doesn't show up when I visit LinkedIn pages.

Fixes:

  1. Check that you're on a supported LinkedIn page:

    • Profile pages (/in/[username])
    • Sales Navigator lead pages (/sales/lead/...)
    • People search results (/search/results/people/)
    • Connections list (/mynetwork/.../connections/)
    • Feeds and message threads
  2. Refresh the page. Some LinkedIn pages require a full reload for the extension to inject the sidebar.

  3. Open Chrome DevTools (press F12), go to the Console tab, and look for red error messages. If you see extension-related errors, note them and contact support.

  4. Disable other LinkedIn-focused browser extensions (e.g., LinkedIn Sales Navigator helpers, link shorteners) that may conflict. Some extensions block the Nynch sidebar's JavaScript injection.

  5. Check that the Nynch extension is enabled:

    • Click the puzzle icon (extensions) in Chrome's top-right corner.
    • Look for "Nynch" in the list.
    • If there's an X icon next to it, click it to enable the extension.
    • If you don't see Nynch at all, reinstall it via Installing the Chrome Extension.

Sidebar appears but shows "Not Logged In"

Symptom: The sidebar shows "Please log in" or a login prompt.

Fixes:

  1. Log in to Nynch at app.nynch.com. The extension reads your session cookie automatically.

  2. After logging in to the app, return to LinkedIn and refresh the page. The sidebar should now show your data.

  3. If the sidebar still says "Not Logged In", your session may have expired. Log out of the app, then log back in.

  4. Check that third-party cookies are enabled in Chrome:

    • Click the lock icon next to the URL bar.
    • Click Cookies and site data.
    • Ensure "Block third-party cookies" is OFF or "All cookies allowed".
    • Nynch uses cookies to share your session between the app and the extension.

Add to Nynch button doesn't work

Symptom: I click "Add to Nynch" on a profile but nothing happens.

Fixes:

  1. Wait 2-3 seconds. The button may be processing in the background.

  2. Check your browser's DevTools Console (press F12 > Console) for errors. Look for messages about "failed to save" or API errors.

  3. Ensure the person's profile has loaded completely. If the name, headline, and photo aren't visible, the page may still be loading.

  4. Try a different profile to rule out a one-time glitch.

  5. Refresh the LinkedIn page and try the capture again. A one-off page or network glitch can make a capture fail quietly.

  6. If the button says "Open in Nynch" instead, the person is already saved. Click to open their contact record in the app.

Messages or profile data appear incomplete

Symptom: Imported profiles are missing experience, skills, or other data.

Fixes:

  1. Check the person's LinkedIn profile directly. If their profile is incomplete (missing experience, blank headline, no about section), Nynch captures only what's visible.

  2. Some LinkedIn data (e.g., email, phone, exact employment dates) is not shown on public profiles. Nynch can only capture what LinkedIn displays to you as a visitor.

  3. If you're a 1st-degree connection, you may see more detail than a 3rd-degree connection. Accept the person's connection request to unlock more profile data.

Search/batch import is stuck or slow

Symptom: Searching on LinkedIn or batch-importing from Sales Navigator feels slow or times out.

Fixes:

  1. The extension makes requests to LinkedIn's API as you scroll or filter. Heavy filter combinations or long scrolls can slow things down. Narrow your search (e.g., by company or title) to speed up results.

  2. If imports time out after 30 seconds, it may be a network issue. Check your internet connection and try again.

  3. Close other browser tabs using LinkedIn to reduce contention on the connection.

  4. Clear your browser cache (Chrome > Settings > Privacy > Clear Browsing Data > check "Cookies and other site data", then click Clear data).

Import shows "X people imported" but I don't see them in Nynch

Symptom: The extension says "Imported 15 people" but they don't appear in the app.

Fixes:

  1. Refresh the Nynch app. Open the People tab and scroll to see recently imported contacts (they're usually at the end of the list by default or sorted by date added).

  2. If you set a filter or rhythm during import, contacts may be hidden. Check your active filters in the app.

  3. The import is asynchronous. If you imported many people at once, it may take a minute or two to process. Wait and refresh.

  4. Check Import History in the app (People > People tab > ... menu > Import History) to see recent import activity and any errors.

If something goes wrong and you need support

If none of the above fixes work:

  1. Open Chrome DevTools (press F12).
  2. Go to the Console tab and take a screenshot of any error messages.
  3. Go to the Application tab, find "Local Storage", click the Nynch URL, and note any stored error messages.
  4. Contact Nynch support through the in-app support + resources link, with:
  • Your Chrome version (Chrome menu > About Google Chrome).
  • The URL where the error happened.
  • The error message from DevTools Console.
  • A screenshot of the issue.
