You'll learn how to: Use the Research Account tab to get an AI dossier on the buyer's company before a meeting or proposal.
Time: 1 minute to trigger. 2-5 minutes for the AI to build the dossier in the background.
Prereqs: The deal has a Company linked. Without a company, the dossier can't be built.
Where it is
Open a deal on Revenue. The canvas opens. Click the second tab, Research Account.
What the dossier covers
Top to bottom, when fully built:
- Snapshot: who they are, what they do, where they're based, headcount, funding stage.
- Recent signals: hiring, leadership changes, press, social activity in the last 30 days.
- Tech stack: tools they use (from public web signals + LinkedIn detection).
- Competitive landscape: who else they're likely talking to.
- Decision-maker map: AI-inferred buying committee with each person's likely role and influence.
- Talk tracks: 3-5 conversation openers grounded in the above.
- Risks and sensitivities: things to handle carefully on this account.
- Reasons to buy now: triggers in their business that suggest urgency.
How to build it
The first time you open the tab on a deal, the dossier is empty. You see a Build button with three levels:
- Quick (cheap, fast): basic snapshot + recent signals. ~30 seconds. 1 credit.
- Standard (recommended): everything above except the deepest competitive analysis. 2-3 minutes. ~3 credits.
- Deep (slow, comprehensive): full multi-source research with cross-references. 5-10 minutes. ~10 credits.
Pick a level. Confirm the credit cost. The dossier builds in the background; you can close the tab and come back. Cards populate one section at a time as research completes.
For a brand-new prospect where you know nothing, start with Standard. For a top-priority account or a critical meeting, go Deep.
Edit any section
Every section is editable inline. Hover the section, click the pencil icon, change the text, save. The AI's draft is a starting point; your edits become the canonical version of that section.
This matters because:
- The AI sometimes gets specifics wrong (especially on smaller companies with thin public footprint).
- Your edits are stored and surface in future AI-generated drafts (the AI learns the canonical view from your edits).
- When you re-run the dossier later, your edited sections are preserved unless you explicitly tell it to overwrite.
Rebuild later
Signals refresh. After a few months on a stalled account, rebuild to pick up new news, leadership changes, or growth signals. Use Rebuild (or Re-run research) on the section header. Confirm the credit cost.
You can also rebuild a SINGLE section without redoing the whole dossier. Useful when the company just announced a funding round and you want to refresh just the Recent signals section.
Use the dossier
The dossier is your prep input for the rest of the deal canvas:
- Map People uses the Decision-maker map to suggest stakeholders to add.
- Proposal drafts use the snapshot + reasons to buy now.
- Deal Room pulls the snapshot for the buyer-facing room.
So building a good dossier early pays off across every other tab.
If something goes wrong
- Symptom: "Build button is greyed out." → Fix: The deal has no company linked. Add one on the Check Fit tab first.
- Symptom: "Dossier built but looks thin." → Fix: Small or stealth companies have limited public data. Try a deeper level, or manually fill in the sections from what you know.
- Symptom: "Section says 'Researching...' for too long." → Fix: Deep builds can take 5-10 minutes. If it's still running after 15 minutes, refresh the page. If it didn't actually run, click Rebuild on that section.
- Symptom: "Dossier has factual errors." → Fix: Edit the section directly. Your edits stick and feed future AI drafts.
- Symptom: "I want to share the dossier with a teammate." → Fix: Anyone with access to the deal sees the dossier. To share with someone outside Nynch, use the Deal Room tab.
