For consultants and fractional executives
How do I price my consulting on value instead of day rates?
Price on the outcome, not the hours. Agree what the work is worth to the client over a year, look at what they would do instead and how confident you are it lands, then set a fee that is a fraction of that value. Offer a few options so the buyer chooses how much value they want.
Why do consultants stay stuck on day rates?
You might be thinking, I know my work is worth more. But when the proposal shows days and a rate, that is all the buyer compares.
Most consultants never write the value down. Without a number for the outcome, the only number on the page is your price.
The real problem is that the buyer cannot defend the fee internally, because nobody showed them what it buys.
How to price on value, step by step
- 01
Name the outcome. Write the measurable result in plain English, such as cutting onboarding time from fourteen days to five, and what it is worth over twelve months.
- 02
Let the call write it up. Pre-fill from context reads your call notes and transcripts and drafts the outcome and who is involved, in the client's own terms.
- 03
Weigh the alternatives. What would the buyer do instead: do it themselves, hire, or take a cheaper quote? Add how confident you are the outcome lands.
- 04
Offer the options. Nynch turns the value into priced options, or an outcome-based fee with a baseline, a measure, your share of the gain and a base fee that protects you.
What changes when you price on value?
The fee makes sense at a glance, because it is a fraction of what the client gets back. Conversations move from your rate to their result, and bigger engagements stop feeling like a stretch.

Questions people ask
What is value-based pricing for consultants?
Setting your fee on the value the client gets, such as revenue gained, cost saved or risk avoided, rather than the days you work.
What is outcome-based pricing?
Part of your fee depends on the result. You agree a baseline and a measure, take a share of the gain, and charge a base fee so you are covered whatever happens.
How do I know what the outcome is worth?
Ask in discovery and write it down: what the problem costs today and what fixing it would save or earn over a year. Nynch drafts the outcome from your call notes for you to check.
Does Nynch send messages for me?
No. Nynch prepares the draft, the reason and the context. You read it, edit it and decide when it goes. Nothing is sent, queued or approved without you.
